Organist Larry Young was born in Newark, NJ, in 1940. Signed to Blue Note Records in around 1964, he recorded with artists such as Grant Green, Joe Henderson, and Elvin Jones. Young became a key element in the explosion of fusion, recording on Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" and evening playing with the legendary Jimmy Hendrix.
